What goes on your roof
Panels
We quote tier-one monocrystalline panels in two flavors: standard-efficiency panels that deliver the lowest cost per watt, and premium high-efficiency panels that squeeze more production out of each square foot — worth it when roof space is tight, less so when it isn't. We'll tell you which fits your roof instead of defaulting to the expensive one.
Inverters
The inverter converts DC from the panels into AC your home uses, and it's the component that works hardest. String inverters with optimizers cost less; microinverters cost more but handle partial shade better and give you panel-by-panel monitoring. Your roof's shading pattern usually makes this decision for you.
Covered for 25 years — and a straight answer on your roof
Every system carries a 25-year warranty. Because panels outlast most roofs, we check your roof's condition before designing anything: if it has only a few years left, we'll tell you to re-roof first rather than sell you a system you'd have to lift off later. How to pay for solar after the 2025 tax-credit change
The residential federal tax credit (25D) ended December 31, 2025, and that changed which path makes sense for most homeowners. Here's the honest version of each option.
Lease or PPA — $0 down
The solar provider owns the system on your roof. You pay a fixed monthly amount (lease) or a set rate per kilowatt-hour it produces (PPA) — typically less than what the utility charges. Because the owner is a business, it can still claim clean-energy incentives and price them into your rate. Maintenance and monitoring are included. This is now the main zero-down path, and it's where our expertise runs deepest.
Cash purchase
You own the system and keep every dollar of savings, which still makes cash the highest lifetime-value option. The honest part: without the federal credit, payback takes longer than it did for systems bought before 2026. Whether it still pencils depends on your usage and rates — we'll show you the actual break-even year, not a brochure number.
Solar loan
Ownership without the upfront cost: you finance the system and the monthly payment replaces part of your electric bill. Interest raises the total cost, so the comparison that matters is loan payment versus bill savings, month by month. We put both numbers in front of you before you sign anything.

LADWP or SCE? Your utility changes the savings math
Los Angeles homes are split between utilities with very different solar rules, and it affects how your system should be designed.
LADWP (City of Los Angeles)
Most of the Valley inside LA city limits — Northridge, Granada Hills, Encino, Sherman Oaks, Van Nuys, Woodland Hills, West Hills — is served by LADWP. It's a city-owned utility that sets its own solar rules and has so far kept a more generous credit for exported power than the state's investor-owned utilities. That means solar production offsets your bill more directly, and a straightforward rooftop system without a battery often does the job.
SCE (Southern California Edison)
Homes outside LA city limits are usually on SCE, which follows California's net billing tariff: power you export earns well below the retail rate, and evening usage from 4–9 p.m. is billed at peak prices. Design shifts accordingly — systems get sized closer to your daytime self-consumption, and a battery often earns its keep by moving solar power into those expensive evening hours. (Burbank and Glendale run their own city utilities with their own rules.)
Either way, your proposal models your actual rate plan — so the savings number you see is for your utility and your usage, not a generic average.

Valley summers push air conditioners hard, so homes here often use more electricity from July through September than comparable homes closer to the coast. These ranges are typical examples for illustration — your 12-month usage history sets the real number.

How long does solar panel installation take in Los Angeles?
The physical install is usually 1 to 2 days. End to end — consultation, design, permits, installation, inspection, and utility Permission to Operate — most projects take roughly 4 to 10 weeks, depending on your city's permit office and whether you're on LADWP or SCE.
Can I still get the federal solar tax credit?
Not for a home purchase. The residential federal credit (25D) ended December 31, 2025, so purchased systems installed in 2026 no longer qualify. Lease and PPA pricing still reflects incentives the system owner can claim, and businesses can still use the separate commercial credit (48E).
Do I need a new roof before going solar?
Only if your roof is near the end of its life. Panels last 25+ years, so putting them on a roof with a few years left means paying to remove and reinstall them later. If your roof needs work first, we'll say so — and we handle panel removal and reinstall around re-roofs.
Will my solar panels work during a blackout?
Not on their own. Grid-tied systems shut off automatically during outages to protect utility workers. If backup power matters to you, the system can be designed with a battery that keeps essential circuits running — ask about it in your consultation.
What size system does a Valley home need?
It depends on your usage, not your square footage. Homes with central air running through Valley summers often need 5 to 9 kW; larger homes with a pool pump or an EV can need more. We size from your actual 12-month usage history, and our free estimate shows the specific number for your home.
Do you handle the HOA and permits?
Yes, all of it — city permit, inspection scheduling, utility interconnection, and HOA paperwork where needed. California's Solar Rights Act also limits how much an HOA can restrict or delay a solar installation.
